Hikes

So many hikes, so little time! It's amazing how relaxing a good hike is -- even a long one. I go hiking with different friends in various groups. Below are the different hikes that I've taken. Click the name of the groups below to view pictures of the hikes.

Various Hikes with Friends

John Litton Farm Loop Trail (Big South Fork State Park, Tennessee)
The John Litton Farm Loop trail is rated easy to moderate and 5.9 miles round trip. It's downhill at the beginning and uphill at the end. Other than that, the majority is fairly flat with just a few ups and downs. We saw 5 cyclers on the trail, but I wouldn't necessarily advise it for the casual mountainbiker. There's a couple of ladders and some places where the trail is not hardly wide enough for a bike.

Edge Path Trail (Norris Dam)
This was an easy hike that starts right at the parking area next to the dam. It has a couple of steep hills but the majority is just a gradual slope or flat. We saw lots of deer. It was a fun short hike that ended near the cabins.

More Time In The Car Than On The Hike Club

Leatherwood Ford Trail (Big South Fork State Park, Tennessee)
We took the Leatherwood Ford Trail up to the overlook (2.8 miles). We then hiked a 6 mile loop around and back to the overlook before coming back down to where we started.

Middle Prong Trail (Smoky Mountains National Park, near Cades Cove, Tennessee)
We only hiked 4.6 miles (2.3 up and back). It was a fairly easy hike, but the path isn't very smooth. It runs right beside a stream, and in the early morning it is cool and enjoyable.

Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent.
